I was more curious if you were ... emotionally alright, after it.
I've experienced Gram's power directly, firsthand. That's where I went after that night in your room. I know how potent it can be if you're wrestling with something.
[ Rey makes her way there. She carries herself a little lighter than she did the last time they spoke, and her hair isn't pulled up at all but down around her shoulders. She's got the Hathaway uniform on. ]
She's back in proper shape, back in clothes she'd bought in Hanabira with her same deer hide cinched about her waist, long mane in a braid down her backs... and it takes her a few steps past the other woman before she realizes its her. Awkward.]
[ Rey grins when she catches the near-lapse, but it's a sheepish thing. She still feels bad about the misunderstanding for lasting so long. She really should have asked the question, but she'd just assumed the most obvious thing possible. ]
[ She lets it go at that, though. If Hayame is going to be defensive about it, there's no need to press the matter. Besides, it will prevent further confusion. She raises a hand to point to the food place and — ] Is that the one?
But she's more than happy to let that topic die in favor of nodding, moving to step half-in to the restaurant, blocking the door with her girth for a moment while she discussed something with the proprietor before backing back up with a menu in hand... which she offers Rey's way.]
The large table is taken, but we can eat it elsewhere- here.
[She could only sit in so many comfortable fashions in most facilities, even on the ship. Most of the recruits were human-shaped... mostly.
Perusing the menu would reveal that its cuisine was rather close to what could be found in Hanabira. Rather close to Hayame's own world, though not quite exactly either.]
[ Where do they get the fish??? That's Rey's primary preoccupation as she reads through the menu, ultimately settling on something akin to okonomiyaki with yams and octopus and kimchi so she can have everything and the kitchen sink at once. Decisions are hard and Rey loves food. ]
If you tell me what you want, I'll get yours too. [ Rey also never spends money on anything because she's used to being broke af, so. You know. Offering. ] Do you want it to take back to your room or … ? [ She's not used to navigating Hayame's specific accommodations. ]
["These" she points to, and reveals to be... four large set meals with a main dish, pickles, tempura. rice, and soup. Whole salt fish, pork cutlet, chicken hot pot, and grilled meat of some kind. It might last until dinner.
When it comes to logistics, though, Hayame pauses to think, gaze unfocusing a moment to call up her magitech's screen and check the location of a certain- nope, he was still there. And there was no vouching for his state, so.]
[ Right. Jinba stomach. Rey nods and gestures for the park, inviting Hayame to wait for her while she orders for them. Then Rey slips off to order the food. The worker looks between Rey and Hayame like ?? ? ? are you sure ? ?? ? but she only smiles and waves it off and pays.
They offer to bring it out, so Rey goes to join Hayame. Honestly she's glad to be eating on the park lawn. It's the nicest place on the Headquarters. ]
People don't live on ships like this where I come from. I mean, people live on ships, and we have ships this big, but not with parks, and restaurants, and that kind of thing. It's all military.
[Hayame had needed to accept early on that for some people... this was normal. Living in the black. Traveling the stars. Needed to, but actually hadn't for a long time. Still... she forces herself to look away from the windows along the ship that remind her with a low horror of where they are, focusing on Rey's face instead.]
You would not call this military?
[Sure, it had... "distractions". Services. But it carried soldiers, it surely was armed... and really, she just doesn't have the images others might to compare it to.]
[ She tries to figure out how to articulate it, pulling up a swatch of grass and crossing her legs. ]
Well, imagine if the Vakdir ran the Headquarters. That's the kind of ships this big we have where I come from. The First Order's military is more rigid than Hathaway.
[Well... that helps visualize. A bit more than helps, if the dark cast to her expression is any indication. She had suffered indignities at the hands of the Vakdir, but she hadn't actually felt helpless. Not really. She'd had faith the entire time that were she take her proper form, if they weren't undercover, that she could escape.
But that image, on a ship... it reminds her too much of Asterion Prison. What true helplessness had felt like. What the makeshift blade against her stomach had felt like.]
How foul.
[She has to say something, anything that isn't about that.]

I did not believe I would be affected in that way.

It hits everyone differently. But it seems it's always painful.

Pain is... was... not my concern.

I suspect my pain would have been greater, if you hadn't helped me start to see the truth before I went to Loki.
[ which is a kind of thanks reiterated, and also explanation for why she's worried about how hayame handled the truth bomb. no preparation. ]
Do you want to talk about it?

[That her pain had been mitigated. That Loki had... "helped"? She doesn't know-]
.... I am not sure.

But I want you to know that I'm here if you do, for the same reason.

Rey. There you are.
